'The Sacred Feminine Does Not Conform to Gender'

Roe LiBretto

watercolor on cradled panel

18 x 18"

"Qualities of our Divinity fall like dew into the soul of each of its physical manifestations. It expresses through a fluctuating balance of energy that advances or retires as it sees fit. In our culture, we have associated advancing as 'male' and retiring as 'female' energy. Over time, we've confused these metaphors with gender identity. This painting reminds us that just as the beautiful hibiscus flower carries both male and female qualities, so do we. And, as manifestations of Divinity, we are free to express that balance as we see fit." - Roe LiBretto
