Tradicion

Known for intricate Día de los Muertos imagery, Luis Contreras expands beyond his iconic Catrina sculptures in Tradición, his fourth solo exhibition at Lapis Room. This boundary-pushing collection honors enduring Mexican traditions, while bringing to life hidden concepts long confined to the artist's sketchbooks. The exhibition features a powerful collaboration with legendary painter Brandon Maldonado, who’s known for his well-researched, culturally rich imagery and motifs. Together, the two artists create a profound dialogue about heritage, storytelling, and artistic evolution.
