“I almost threw in the towel 3 times on this painting. 3 years in the making, I started this painting without an initial concept or prompt. At times the painting was very minimal or too busy. My hand and eye eventually found the flow and rhythm. 

In the end what I see is a large kaiju towering over the city, coming face to face with his shadow, and this might be a stretch but, in the top right corner is a drawing representing his memories, an older style I was grounded in years ago. The title almost became ‘Running into his shadow at a party’, the idea of having to acknowledge your past accomplishments or downfalls along the journey. “
