“The center of my practice is deep play. Improvisation, comedy, and experimentation are all vital ingredients in my studio soup. I work in enamel on plexiglas because I enjoy painting backwards, specific to general. I am interested in telling encoded stories of personal experience using the

tradition of sign painting, memory, and the colors and lines of golden age comics.”

Rebecca Elise Cook is a multimedia artist and educator based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Houston, Texas, Rebecca spent a decade working as an arts educator and as a prop and set designer for immersive theater productions before coming to Albuquerque to pursue her MFA in Painting and Drawing at the University of New Mexico.
